Daryl G. Smith Diversity Lecture: The Elusive Quest for Racial Equity in U.S. Higher Education

Description: Join us for the first annual Daryl G. Smith Diversity Lecture presented by the School of Educational Studies: The Elusive Quest for Racial Equity in U.S. Higher Education with Shaun R. Harper, from the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. Rather than examining the deficits and documenting the failures in urban schools, Shaun Harper focuses on students who have figured out how to succeed in disadvantaged environments. Instead of asking, "Why do so many men of color drop out of high school?" Harper investigates the factors that motivate men of color to graduate from high school and attend college.
